lionroom.info was a website I built with Antonio Li that lists room availability data for Columbia students. One day, I was studying for finals and wanted to find an empty room to write on the chalkboard, but kept on running into classes and clubs already using the room. To find empty rooms, I would visit Columbia's Event Management System (EMS) website to find when classes and events were being held, and then visit the rooms when nobody was there. The EMS website, however, was rickety and brittle (did you know: to find rooms in Uris, you have to type in "URI" and not "Uris"?)
I thought I could do a better job, so I made the website. It was initially for students who wanted an empty room to study for, but I've been told by professors and students that they use it to find empty rooms to hold office hours in and free music and dance practice rooms.
Right now, I'm in the works of getting it acquired by Columbia Spectator (hopefully!)
